The State Society of Rhode Island is looking for their next Cherry Blossom Princess.

The Cherry Blossom Princess Program is for young women, ages 19-24, with an interest in leadership, politics, international relations and culture. The reigning 2014 Cherry Blossom Princess is WPRO’s Kim Kalunian.

The next Rhode Island Cherry Blossom Princess will have the opportunity to travel to the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C. in April for an immersive cultural experience. Princesses have the opportunity to visit embassies, meet with international leaders, tour the nation’s capital and meet other Princesses from across the country and the globe.

“It’s a great opportunity for Rhode Island women to come to the Nation’s Capital and spend the week here in these great events that the program puts on,” said Chris Simeone, the Chairman of the State Society of Rhode Island.

One lucky Princess will be chosen – by the spin of a wheel – to travel to Japan as the United States Cherry Blossom Queen.

Interested applicants should send a resume and one-page essay about why they should represent Rhode Island. Applications are due by December 5 and should be send to Chris Simeone, Chairman of the State Society of Rhode Island, at [email protected].
