Governor-elect Gina Raimondo announced Michael DiBiase, a veteran of Fidelity Investments and former Senior Aide to Governor Lincoln Almond, as her pick for Director of Administration.

A lawyer, DiBiase practiced law in Providence for 10 years before joining the Almond administration where he served as Chief of Staff and Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs for six years. After his time in state government, DiBiase spent 14 years at Fidelity serving as Senior Vice President for State Government Relations and Public Affairs.

“The Department of Administration has a key role in developing the state’s budget, and improving and streamlining government operations and regulations so we can deliver the services Rhode Islanders deserve,” Raimondo said in a statement.

In the same statement, the Raimondo team also announced she would be tapping yet another out-of-state official to join her incoming administration. Raimondo says she has picked Jonathan Womer, North Carolina Governor’s Deputy Director of State Offices and Budget Management to head up Rhode Island’s Office of Management and Budget.

“By adding Mike and Jonathan to our team, we will be gaining invaluable years of experience in problem solving and producing results as we move our state forward,” the statement continued.

The Raimondo team also stated they will continue nominating members of the Governor-elect’s cabinet even after the inauguration.
