Governor-elect Gina Raimondo announced she would be appointing Anya Wallack – a seasoned health-policy veteran – to head up the Ocean State’s health insurance marketplace HealthSource RI.

Wallack, who hold a Ph.D. from Brandies University, has a long record of helping craft health care policy in other states. From 2011 to 2013 Wallack served as a chair for the Green Mountain Care Board in Vermont, and then chaired another Vermont board which specialized in containing health care costs.

Prior to her stints in the Green Mountain State, she chaired the Cost Containment Committee of the Massachusetts Health Care Quality and Cost Council.

“Anya brings the right mix of policy expertise, management skill and innovative thinking to this job,” said Raimondo in a statement.

“We need a leader who can establish HSRI as a sustainable and affordable organization that provides clear return-on-investment to Rhode Island families and employers.”

Wallack currently lives in Little Compton with her husband and son.
