Warwick man charged with conspiring to support ISIS

The Warwick man arrested in connection with the probe into a Massachusetts man fatally shot by terrorism investigators last week was arraigned in Boston Friday morning on charges that he plotted with others to support the terrorist organization ISIS.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts says Nicholas Rovinski, 24, of Warwick was in communication with David Wright, 25, and Usaamah Abdullah Rahim, 26, and plotted to behead Pamela Geller, the New York woman who organized a “draw Muhammad” contest in Texas.

Plans changed when Rahim said he was going to target police officers instead. He was later shot killed by Boston Police June 2.

Court documents show Rovinski had met with Wright and Rahim on May 31 at Warwick Beach and talked for two hours about how to kill Geller. Rovinski admitted to authorities he converted to Islam two years ago and on social media Ravinski used the name Nuh al Andalusi; he also admitted to supporting the teachings of ISIS; Investigators also believe Rovinski was planning on joining ISIS overseas.

He was ordered held without bail pending a probable cause hearing next week.

Rovinski is facing up to 15 years in prison, a lifetime sentence of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000.
