Five organizations that have raised concerns about the administration’s commitment to the public’s right to know are meeting with state officials.

ACCESS/RI, American Civil Liberties Union, Rhode Island Press Association, New England First Amendment Coalition and League of Women Voters were invited to the statehouse Tuesday.

They wrote to Democratic Gov. Gina Raimondo this month to ask her to promote greater transparency and to issue an executive order stating agencies should favor disclosure.

They say an agency’s response to a records request was incomplete. They questioned refusals by the administration and another agency to release records.

Raimondo’s spokeswoman says the administration takes transparency seriously and has disclosed challenges within agencies.

She says the groups will likely meet with Raimondo’s chief of staff and other administration officials to discuss working cooperatively.
