US Labor Secretary Perez to address Roger Williams Law School commencement

BRISTOL, R.I. (AP) — U.S. Labor Secretary Thomas Perez is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the Roger Williams University School of Law’s commencement ceremony.

Perez is a civil rights lawyer by training, with degrees from Brown University and Harvard University. Lately, he has been on the campaign trail with Hillary Clinton.

Perez is scheduled to receive an honorary degree at the May 13 ceremony in Bristol.

On May 14, artist Barnaby Evans is scheduled to address the Roger Williams University Class of 2016 and receive an honorary doctorate.

Evans created the hugely popular WaterFire display, which lights up the rivers in Providence with floating braziers of crackling, burning cedar.

The university announced the speakers Friday.
