OPINION: Former Rep Trillo calls for boycott of those who criticize Trump

by former Representative Joe Trillo

Editor’s Note: Trillo discussed this op-ed with WPRO’s Tara Granahan Thursday. Listen to the conversation below.

I call upon all Trump supporters to join me in sending a message to Hollywood elites and Broadway pontificators.  I am tired of the entertainment community trying to impose their political views on those of us who exercised our own political choices, choices that they simply don’t like and results that they certainly didn’t expect.

We only look to entertainers for entertainment, not political guidance.  They are no wiser for their craft and perhaps less so as compared with average Americans across our country who are working hard to make ends meet.

Did you hear an outcry of embarrassment from these elites when Madonna, one of their own, opened her filthy mouth during her political rant from London, no less? I wonder how many children were in that crowd when she spewed her ugly words. Frankly, their silence was deafening.

I am tired of hearing stars that I used to enjoy watching, like Robert De Niro and Merrill Streep, speak out against our president.  Yes, it’s time to boycott those people we may have enjoyed as entertainers but don’t respect for their political rants!

It is time to send the message that all we want from them is to ‘do your job’, in other words, shut up and entertain us! It is our money that funds them, so I ask that all Trump supporters remind them that political boycotts cut both ways.

Let’s teach the stars a lesson. Boycott any star who rants against our president for one full year. Don’t pay to go to their events, concerts, and movies. Don’t be a part of the studio audience of TV shows. Don’t help their Nielsen ratings by watching Late Night TV.

Boycott retail stores like Nordstom, Neiman Marcus and Burlington. These stores made shopping political by dumping the Ivanka Trump line of retail products.  Don’t shop there for at least one year!

The only way to teach these people and corporations a lesson is by hitting their bottom lines. Help them suffer financially because that is the only message they will ever understand.

So, Trump supporters spread the word!  Let’s use a boycott as a weapon and let’s fight back against Hollywood elitists and self-righteous Broadway actors!
