Jazz pianist and world-renowned Grammy Award winning singer, Diana Krall, will return to the Providence Performing Arts Center on Sunday, June 18 at 7P. Her concert is part of her 2017/2018 World Tour in support of her highly anticipated new album “Turn Up The Quiet,” which was released on May 5.

Krall’s new album celebrates a return to jazz and the Great American Songbook and reunites her with Grammy® Award-winning producer Tommy LiPuma. Diana Krall is the only jazz singer to have eight albums debut at the top of the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. To date, her albums have garnered five Grammy® Awards, eight Juno® Awards and has also earned nine gold, three platinum and seven multi-platinum albums. She has sold more than 6 million albums in the USA and over 15 million worldwide.

Born in Nanaimo, BC, Canada to a musical family, Krall’s career began in 1993 with the independent Canadian release of her debut album Stepping Out.
She released three more independent albums and then in 1999, signed with Verve who released Krall’s 5th record When I Look in Your Eyes garnering her a Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal.

In 2002, The Look of Love was released and became a #1 bestseller in the US and a five-time platinum album in Canada. 2004’s The Girl in the Other Room, was her first to focus on her own song-writing (with six tunes co-written with husband Elvis Costello); 2005’s Christmas Songs proved one of the season’s best-sellers; and 2006’s From This Moment On was an upbeat, critical success that coincided with the birth of her twin sons. In 2007 her 15 track compilation album, The Very Best of Diana Krall, was released and followed up by the ‘intimate, romantic album’ Quiet Nights in 2009.

With a long history of extensive touring throughout North America, South America, Asia, Europe and Australia – playing shows with k.d. lang, Tony Bennett, Ray Charles and Elvis Costello – Krall announced on October 2012 the adventurous Glad Rag Doll World Tour — a global marathon of 109 shows in support of Glad Rag Doll (released October 2, 2012 on Verve Records.)

In 2015, Krall released Wallflower on Verve Records, which sold over 600,000 units in its first four months of release. The album was produced by David Foster, and was a collection of Krall’s interpretation of some of the greatest pop song classics from the late 60’s to present day with her renditions of The Mamas and the Papas’ “California Dreamin’,” the Eagles’ “Desperado,” Bob Dylan’s “Wallflower,” and Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You” to name a few.
