Kobi Dennis joined the Dan Yorke Show Monday afternoon after announcing his run for Mayor of Providence through a Facebook Live on Sunday night.
Dennis is a committed community activist who runs the Department of Public Health program Princes to King. The program guides 50- high risk young to a college path each year.

While Dennis supported Mayor Elorza in the 2014 election, he says now that he has, “no ill feelings towards the current administration,” but that “it’s time for a change.”

Dennis described his frustration with crumbling school infrastructure and newly placed parking meters throughout the city. He added he wants to “make things a lot more fair for the business owners and the people who live down there [Downtown Providence]. ”

Dennis also expressed frustration with the “lack of diversity in city hall.” As mayor, he suggests he would bring in more women and people from “all different backgrounds.”

Yorke asked Dennis about handling the city’s deficit and he suggested he would start by “collecting some of of the best minds in the city” to create a plan.

When asked about financing his campaign, Dennis says that he will not build up the type of war chest that Mayor Elorza needed because “name recognition is part of the game and my name is out there.”
