PODCAST: A stolen endorsement?

by Tara Granahan, WPRO

Democratic candidate for Governor Matt Brown tells WPRO’s Tara Granahan that “it’s no coincidence” that Governor Gina Raimondo went after the endorsement of his “mentor” and friend, Congressman John Lewis.  Brown added that he has spoken of Lewis publicly many times, and wasn’t surprised Raimondo, with the help of RI’s Congressman David Cicilline, sought out the civil rights icon.

However, the Georgia representative tells WPRI’s Ted Nesi that if he knew Brown was in that race, things would be different.  “If I had known what I know now then,” he told WPRI, “I would have remained neutral — either that or endorsed Matt….”   Brown, a former Secretary of State, also noted that Governor Raimondo went so far as to say he “made up” his years-long friendship with Lewis.
