Police: Baby left alone in a car at Twin River Casino

By WPRO News

Lincoln Police said a baby left alone in a car at Twin River Casino on Wednesday morning is now in the custody of the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF).

Police said casino security notified, then joined a Lincoln Police officer on site to search the parking lot after hearing of a child left in a car. They found a car with the engine running, driver’s window down, and a three-month-old baby girl covered with a blanket in the back seat.

Police said once emergency responders arrived, the baby’s mother returned to the parking lot. Police identified her as 26-year-old Halston Borglund from the Cape Cod area, and said she told officers she had only left the baby to get her keys inside the casino.

Police investigated further and estimated the baby was left alone for about an hour and a half. Borglund was taken into custody for Cruelty or Neglect of a Child and was also taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation.

The baby was also taken to the hospital, and police said she was reported to be in fair condition.
