Police: Woman leads police on chase through 2 states

FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) – A Rhode Island woman police say led officers on an early morning pursuit through several towns in two states has been held on $5,000 bail.

Irene Bublik, of Warren, pleaded not guilty Monday to multiple charges including assault and battery on a police officer, and drunken driving in connection with the chase that started in Warwick, Rhode Island at about 1:30 a.m. and ended in Swansea, Massachusetts.

The pursuit also went through Cranston, East Providence, Barrington, Warren, Rehoboth and Seekonk.

Police say the 30-year-old Bublik drove into a cul-de-sac in Rehoboth, and when an officer got out of his cruiser, she struck him with her sideview mirror. The officer wasn’t seriously injured.

Her attorney argued for no bail, saying Bublik is a mother two with a job.
