State Senator Dennis Algiere will continue leading Rhode Island’s tiny Senate Republican caucus.

This will mark the 11th term the Westerly Republican has led the GOP in the Senate. They’ve been badly outnumbered throughout that tenure dating back to 1997, and the caucus currently has only 5 members.

Algiere says he looks forward to a productive working relationship between his fellow Republicans and other members of the General Assembly.

The second Senate Republican in command will be fellow South County State Senator Elaine Morgan, who will serve as the Minority Whip. Senator Thomas Paolino of Lincoln, North Providence, and North Smithfield will be Senior Deputy Minority Leader.
