PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – U.S. Sen. Jack Reed says he will back a new Senate resolution revoking U.S. support for the Saudi-led war in Yemen.

WPRI-TV reports the Rhode Island Democrat also introduced a measure Tuesday calling for President Donald Trump’s administration to issue a public report on the killing of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

He says it’s “inconceivable” the journalist was killed without Saudi Arabia’s crown prince knowing.

Reed and fellow Democrat Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse previously voted against a resolution co-sponsored by Vermont independent Bernie Sanders limiting U.S. involvement in the conflict.

Sanders says he plans to revive the measure for another vote as soon as Wednesday.

Whitehouse said Wednesday he also now intends to vote in favor. He says the Senate should send a clear message to the Saudi government that American support isn’t unconditional or absolute.
