A tanker truck carrying gasoline has rolled onto its side on a Massachusetts highway, killing the driver and injuring the driver of another vehicle.

State police say the tanker rolled on Route 24 in Fall River just after 5 a.m. Thursday.

The tanker struck another vehicle when it rolled. The operator and sole occupant of the tractor trailer was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Both sides of Route 24 were shut down as crews worked to contain the spill of an undetermined amount of fuel with foam and sand.

No names were released and the crash remains under investigation.
