NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) — Herbie Hancock, Corinne Bailey Rae, The Bad Plus and Buika are among the first wave of artists announced for this year’s Newport Jazz Festival .

The three-day festival in Rhode Island is scheduled for August 2, 3 and 4 at Fort Adams State Park and the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Organizers of the 65th annual event say the 2019 artist lineup includes “powerful pianists, singing storytellers, swinging big bands, a beat scientist and some of the baddest ensembles on the jazz scene.”

Some of the other artists booked for the festival include 2019 Grammy winners Cecile McLorin Salvant, Terence Blanchard, Dafnis Prieto and the Spanish Harlem Jazz Orchestra. More than 50 individual jazz ensembles are expected to perform.

Tickets are on sale starting Tuesday.
