Police Wednesday confirmed the death of a Cranston woman, charging her estranged boyfriend with murdering her in their home.

In a late-day news release, Chief Michael Winquist identified the victim as Lauren Ise, 29, and said her body was discovered by officers performing a well-being check at the home at 245 Bay View Avenue

Michael Marrapese, 40 of the same address was charged with her murder.

Marrapese was reported by various news outlets as the son of late organized crime figure Frank “Bobo” Marrapese.

Police spent most of the day Wednesday investigating the death in the Edgewood neighborhood.

In a news release, Chief Winquist said police were familiar with Marrapese and Ise through previous calls for domestic distrubances at the address, and said Marrapese was identified as the suspect following interviews with witnesses.

“The victim did not have a protective order in effect against Marrapese at the time of her death but recently reported feeling threatened by Mr. Marrapese after he moved out of the residence,” said Winquist.

He was arraigned by a justice of the peace and held for an appearance in court on Thursday.

Crime scene investigators dressed in plastic suits and shoe coverings were seen going inside and out of the white wood and brick two-story duplex home at 245 Bay View Avenue throughout the afternoon. Crime scene tape blocked the street on either side of the home.

A man and a woman arrived separately at about noon, the man angrily approaching the home until he was restrained by officers. The woman broke down in sobs until she, too was led away by officers and friends.
