A Fall River man has been charged with the September 29 shooting death of a woman as they sat in a car to conduct a drug deal.
Brandyn LePage, 20 was charged Friday with the murder and armed robbery of Aja Pascual, 31 as the two sat in a car parked conducting a drug deal in broad daylight in the area of 889 Cherry Street in Fall River at about 1:00 P.M. on September 29, said Bristol County District Attorney Samuel Sutter. He said Pascual was found slumped against the broken driver's side window in her car, dead of a single gunshot wound in to the head. The maroon Nissan Versa was still running, the radio was on.
"We will allege in this case that Mr. LePage met with Miss Pascual inside her vehicle on Cherry Street to conduct a drug transaction," said DA Sutter. "At some point during the transaction, we allege Mr. LePage shot Miss Pascual at close range and robbed her."
Sutter said that LePage had been taken into custody three days after the shooting and held on obstruction of justice and firearms charges. He is expected to face the additional charges in court some time next week.
Sutter also said that his office has scored a 100% closure rate on homicides in 2012, and about a 70% rate of solving shooting cases.
"That's obviously as strong, in my opinion, as any urban area in the country."
He pointed to efforts to end the "stop snitching" movement, in addition to offering witness protection, pursuing dangerousness hearings in gun cases to get suspects off the streets prior to trials.
