CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) - Cranston authorities say they found a human body on fire at a local cemetery while responding to a report of a late-night brush fire.
Firefighters were called to the Pocasset Cemetery on Wednesday night and discovered that the flames were coming from a dead body.
Cranston Police Colonel Marco Palombo tells WPRO that the victim has been positively identified and is a man in his 20's from Providence. The man's identity has not yet been released. Police, fire and the Attorney General's Office are currently investigating what they believe to be a murder.
"It was quite a greusome sight for the responding officers and fire fighters," said Palombo.
According to a Facebook post
by a relative of missing Brown student, Sunil Tripathi, this incident is unrelated to his disappearance.
