The Portsmouth School Department has begun their school security improvements in wake of the Newtown Elementary School shooting.
The Newport Daily News reports that school officials have approved spending up to $8,000 to make ID badges for school employees and to upgrade the intercom system.
According to the Associated Press, Superintendent Lynn, S. Krizic says the changes are basic improvements to increase security in the schools. She also says the department is forming a safety committee that will review the district’s emergency procedures and recommend improvements.
