Look out Boston and New York! The ocean state is now opening a year round theater right in Warwick. The new Ocean State Theater Company has opened a new theater in Warwick.

“We certainly feel that we’re gonna have a product that everybody’s going to be able to fold into their theater going mix and maybe even bring in some of those people that don’t normally go to the theater because they don’t like to go downtown or they don’t like to go to Boston or they don’t like to go to New York. Hopefully we’re right in their back yard and they’ll give us a try, and we encourage everyone to come in,” said Managing Producer for Ocean State Theater Company Joel Kipper.

Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian went on a tour of the soon to be finished building on Tuesday afternoon. He can’t believe how quickly it came together.

“It doesn’t seem possible that it was such a short period of time ago that we were here to look at what the old building looked like and then to see it over the course of the last few months go from being a hole in the ground to having a whole theater emerge is pretty amazing,” said Mayor Avedisian.

Both Mayor Avedisian and Kipper hope that the theater will bring tourism to the state and help out the restaurants and businesses in the area.
