A fatal car accident in Taunton involving 6 young adults leaves two teenagers dead.
The six individuals were traveling in a red Honda Accord early Sunday morning when it crashed into a tree. Police responded to the accident scene around 12:30 a.m. on Bay Street. The passengers of the vehicle were rushed to the hospital. Two of the car’s passengers were pronounced dead at Morton Hospital and the other four were transported to Rhode Island Hospital in critical condition.
Police have identified the two victims as 18-year-old Eden Macedo and 18-year-old Justin Neto.
The driver was 24-year-old Nicholas Costa. Costa and the other passengers 18-year-old Ashley Rivera, 21-year-old Jose Rodriguez and 19-year-old Chelsea Crancha remain hospitalized.
According to police earlier in the night the six teens tried to unsuccessfully get into a club and were on their way home.
Police discover a bottle of vodka that was two-thirds empty in the front of the vehicle, although alcohol has not yet been determined to be a cause of the accident. Police have identified speed as a factor.
None of the vehicle occupants were wearing seatbelts. The two females were seated on the laps of Neto and Rodriguez.
