Due to the impending blizzard, the Rhode Island State Police are advising that all travelers be off the roads at 12 p.m.
State Police Superintendent Colonel Steven O'Donnell told Gene Valicenti on the WPRO Morning News that he is urging all trucks and commercials vehicles to stay off the roads today, since they caused major delays during the Blizzard of '78 cleanup.
Additionally, RIPTA will suspend bus service at 12 p.m. Friday; they plan to bring the service back Saturday depending on conditions.
Although the State Police have been vocal about keeping major roadways clear, the Governor is the one who has authority to close highways, which has not happened yet.
