The Gene Valicenti Show

"The Gene Valicenti Show" is fast paced, informative and entertaining caller-oriented talk from one of Southern new England's most recognizeable personalities.

"I have always received a great response to guest hosting on WPRO, and that's what convinced me to give my own show a shot," said Valicenti.

"People have been talking back to me on TV for years, and now on the radio I can talk back to them. I am committed to bringing the same 'fair and balanced' approach to radio that has served me well on TV,” Valicenti added.

The Gene Valicenti Show was joined by Andre DiMino, UNICO's Chief Media Exec and immediate past National President.  UNICO National is America’s largest Italian American service organization.  UNICO was one of the first Italian-American organizations to accuse MTV's Jersey Shore for giving Italian American's a bad name.  Andre DiMino and UNICO feel the same way about VH1's "My Big Friggin Wedding." The reality show portrays 5 couples preparing for their wedding in the New Jersey area. In the middle of Andre DiMino's interview with Gene on of the show's stars Johnny DeCarlo aka "Johnny Meatball"s calls in to defend himself and his fiance.  He tells Gene and Andre that they aren't aware of the, "guido culture" that exists. 


An interview with Randy Bert- author of, "Fifth Commandment Atrocity"

Randy Burt, member of the infamous Rhode Island Burt Family, signs a publishing agreement with EDGE Publishing Company to tell the true story behind his family's crime spree which was featured in the made-for-TV movie, Family Sins. The book is called, "Fifth Commandment Atrocity." Randy sits down with Gene for a tell-all interview about his family and the distance he keeps from them.

September 11th, 2010 marked the 9th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and Gene honored this special day by sharing his own recollections as well hearing from the listeners of WPRO. Gene also welcomed Lt. General Reginald A. Centracchio in-studio to get his take on the ruling that "Don't ask Dont tell" is unconstitional as well as get his reflections on the 9-11 anniversary. Gene was also joined by Al Cerrone who recently accepted the Patrick Henry award, the highest civilian award from the National Guard Association for his 20 year aponsorship and support of the Air Show.


Local leaders from the Islamic community talk with Gene on the Mosque in NYC

• Imam Farid Ansari and Imam Abdul Hameed from The Islamic Center of Rhode Island joined The Gene
   Valicenti Show on August 21st to give their take on the possibility of a mosque being built at the site of
   Ground Zero in New York City. 

• Imams Farid and Abdul tell Gene they are sensitive to how people feel but the majority of Muslims are not
   responsible for the September 11th attacks. 

• They say that there is a violation of rights to practice their religion. 

• One caller asked the Imams their thoughts on the stoning deaths of a man and a woman for having an
   affair in Afghanistan.
