Olympic figure skater and wife of former candidate for governor Clay Pell, Michelle Kwan, has been named as a transition team leader for Providence Mayor-elect Jorge Elorza.
According to a press release from the Elorza team, the two-time Olympic medalist’s name is listed among 28 others who apart of a steering committee which will lead several transition committees to help guide policy decisions for the new administration.

Kwan will serve on the committee focused on sports and recreation alongside Providence City Councilman Nick Narducci and former Executive Director of Youth in Action Adeola Oredola.
Other committees include arts and culture, public safety, economic development, housing, and education.
Kwan was actively involved with her husband’s unsuccessful run for the Democratic nomination for governor, going door-to-door, appearing at campaign stops, and starring in a campaign ad.
