WOONSOCKET, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo is rolling out her plan to award tax breaks and other incentives to improve the state’s economy.

Raimondo toured downtown Woonsocket on Friday to introduce three economic initiatives. One will offer up to $300,000 to spruce up distressed commercial districts, which Woonsocket Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt says the city will seek in a grant application.

She says the city already has a plan to make the streets and sidewalks surrounding Stadium Theatre more inviting to pedestrians.

The city, home to the global headquarters of CVS Health, also hopes to benefit from another Raimondo initiative that will award tax credits to companies that can attract a supplier, service provider or other associated business to relocate nearby and generate at least 10 new jobs.
