PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Former Providence Mayor and WPRO personality Buddy Cianci is planning to get hitched.

The longest serving mayor in Providence history says he proposed to Tara Marie Haywood on Christmas Day. No wedding date has been set.

Haywood, who is in her mid-30s, worked on Cianci’s comeback campaign for mayor in 2014. She met and began dating the 74-year-old Cianci during the campaign.

Haywood is a Providence native and had been working out of state as a model, actress and broadcaster when Cianci decided to run again for mayor in 2014. She quit and moved back to volunteer on his campaign.

Cianci was married once before and divorced.

Cianci, in addition to his show here on WPRO, works as a political analyst for WLNE-TV.
