Candidate for governor Patricia Morgan, who’s long been calling “fowl” on her GOP opponent’s agreement to just one debate prior to the Republican primary election for governor, brought a man in a chicken suit to Cranston City Hall to demand a debate with Mayor Allan Fung.

Morgan said she’ll participate in multiple scheduled primary debates on Rhode Island’s statewide news stations, but Fung has agreed to take part in just one debate on a radio station outside the Providence market.

“Allan Fung has a long record of flip flopping and stating what is politically expedient at the time and I believe it’s the reason he won’t debate me, because he’s afraid of that record,” Morgan said.

As Morgan spoke, a person in a chicken suit, she called “Al the Debate Chicken” walked the grounds of City Hall, brandishing a sign with her campaign logo that said, “I’m Afraid to Debate Patricia Morgan”.

“The chicken’s with me,” Morgan confirmed.

The Fung campaign Tweeted a message that reads, “I thought I vetoed the chicken ordinance in Cranston.” Photoshopped over the campaign sign is one that reads, “TAKE ME SERIOUSLY”.

“We look forward to debating Mr. Feroce and Rep. Morgan soon,” said Fung campaign spokesman Andrew Augustus in an emailed statement.
